1) First, ensure the correct USB cable is used:
- When using a Micro USB or TYPE-C cable for downloading via a computer, the USB download mode must be set to “Automatic Mode.” In this case, the Micro USB or TYPE-C interface is used for USB downloads, while the TYPE-A interface is for U-disk downloads (factory default setting).
- When using a TYPE-A USB cable for downloading via a computer, the USB download mode must be switched to “Manual Mode” → “USB Download.”
- When using a U-disk for downloading, only the TYPE-A interface can be used.
- For devices with a single USB output interface, the factory default is set to “USB Download Mode,” unless otherwise requested by the customer.
2) Troubleshooting steps if the computer cannot recognize the USB or the upgrade fails mid-process:
- The USB driver from the manufacturer is not correctly installed, or the installation has issues.
- Electromagnetic interference (EMI) from other devices may cause USB download failures. Try turning off nearby devices such as servo motors, inverters, controllers, or computer monitors.
- The HMI download mode might be incorrectly set. For example, it may be set to “U-disk Mode” while using a USB cable for downloading.
- The USB cable may be too long or connected via a USB hub. Try connecting the cable directly to the computer’s USB port.
- Multiple USB cables connected to the HMI main unit may cause USB differential signal issues. Disconnect any idle USB cables (ensure disconnection at the HMI main unit).
- The computer’s USB port may be faulty. Try using another computer.
- Common-mode interference caused by the power supply may be an issue. Add a “common-mode inductor” between the positive and negative terminals of the 24V power input to suppress interference.
- The power supply may be underpowered. Ensure that the power supply matches the specifications provided on the label of the device.
- Communication signals may be interfering with the USB differential signals. Disconnect the communication cables.
- Ground interference from multiple devices may cause issues. Try using separate power supplies for each device.
- The USB cable may be faulty.
- As an emergency solution, try upgrading using a U-disk or SD card.
- If the HMI main unit is damaged, return it for after-sales service.
